Would you like to be taking better care of your art? I can help. I’m an ALA/MLS trained archivist specializing in the care and preservation of physical media. I’ve also got a robust studio practice of my own, so I know firsthand what a challenge it can be to care for your creative work. It doesn’t have to be so intimidating, though – one lesson with an archivist can be enough to start implementing museum/gallery practices in your own workspace.
I’ve worked with archival material in museums and in private collections, but working with other artists has always been where I feel most at home. I’d love to help you level-up your own art studio - being more organized in your work and space makes you more efficient in your practice, letting you worry more about art-making and less about admin.
How it works:
The price of this class includes an on-site tutorial in your Portland area studio, as well as a detailed follow-up report with my recommendations based on the specifics of our visit. This allows us to cover basic archival principles in person, but also ensures you get thorough information and resources tailored to the needs of your specific space and work.
I’m fully booked through the end of June, but have both weekend and weekday availability beginning in July. Please let me know your scheduling preferences (weekend/weekday, morning/afternoon) and preferred media (oil paintings? ceramics? taxidermy? sculptures involving all three?) when purchasing, and I’ll get back to you shortly to schedule a time for our visit. Currently, I’m only able to guarantee availability of this class to studios within the limits of the City of Portland. Please contact me before purchasing if you’re not sure you fall within the boundaries, and I’ll see what I can do!
